Clean Display Surface
Gently wipe away smudges, fingerprints, and dust specks with a dry microfiber cloth so surface dust isn't mistaken for a defective pixel.
Maximize Brightness
Turn display brightness up to 80β100%. High brightness illuminates all subpixel channels to make tiny anomalies easily noticeable.
Turn Off Night Mode & True Tone
Temporarily disable Night Shift, Night Light, True Tone, or Eye Comfort Shield to inspect true, unshifted sRGB color values.
View Directly at 90Β° Angle
Position your eyes directly in front of the screen. Looking from steep side angles causes natural gamma and contrast shift on LCD panels.

What is a Dead Pixel?
